I am happy to be your child's teacher this year.  I realize that you may not know very much about me, therefore that is why I am taking this opportunity to write this for you.  I am originally from Lee County. I was born and raised there in a small community called Blackwater.  I attended Blackwater Elementary School and later moved to Jonesville High School to finish grades 7-12.  I graduated in 1975 and later attended MECC securing an  Associate Degree.  I then transferred to Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate, TN and completed my Bachelor's Degree in Education.  I taught 4th grade for two years in Lee County and then married and moved to Dickenson County.  This is my 28th year of teaching in Dickenson County and 24 of those years have been in Kindergarten, which I love. My husband is Darrell Dotson and we have been married for 36 years and have two sons, Brett and Josh, and five wonderful grandsons, Miles 5 and Landon 3, twins Ethan and Isaac 1 and the newest, Owen 1 month.  We are of the Baptist faith and  are members of New Maple Grove Baptist Church.  I really don't have any special hobbies.  Most of my spare time is spent with my grandchildren or catching up on things around the house that I tend to let go while I am working!!!!!

I do send a weekly newsletter home each Monday.  Please take the time to read the newsletter each week.  It will keep you informed on what we cover each week.

This week we are working on letters C and E.  Our word for the week is "a".  The students will work on numbers 11-15 and ten frames.  Christopher Columbus will be the Social Studies topic for the week.
