1. dense – having many things close together
Roots grow from a banyan’s tree branches like a think, dense forest.
2. opportunities – chances to do something
A forest offers many opportunities, or chances, for a career or volunteer work.
3. shallow – not deep
Some trees have shallow roots. The roots don’t do deep into the ground.
4. customs – things that people in society do
Some human customs, such as the practice of clearing trees, are ruining many forests.
5. moisture – tiny drops of water
Over half the world’s species live in the rainforest, helped by the moisture, or wetness.
